Parish News for 17th Week in Ordinary Time

July 25, 2024 by James Elston in Weekly News

This Sunday is the 17th in Ordinary Time and we will be celebrating the dedication of our church in 1892. From 12-3pm our church doors will be open to all. Thank to everyone who has offered to volunteer and bake cakes. Please also invite friends to show off our wonderful building and beautiful music. The day will end with Choral Evensong at 3.30pm

Music on Sunday
On Sunday morning the choir will sing the Mass in G by Schubert and Locus Iste by Bruckner. At Evensong, the canticles will be sung to a setting by Charles Stanford in B flat and the anthem will be How lovely are they dwellings by Brahms.

Flowers in Church
If you are able to help with flowers in church for Sundays at one of the shrines or in the sanctuary, please speak to Fr James. Offers of flowers for the Open Day are particularly welcome!

Monthly Requiem Mass
On the last Tuesday of every month the 6pm Mass will be offered as a Requiem for those in our Chantry Book. If you would like to have a departed loved one remembered at the altar at the monthly requiem please speak to Fr James. The next Requiem Mass will be on Tuesday 30th July.
