Parish News for Pentecost

May 21, 2026 by Oliver Baldwin in Weekly News

This Sunday we celebrate the Feast of Pentecost. Fifty days have passed since the Lord’s Resurrection at Easter and today we celebrate the descent of the Holy Spirit on the Apostles. Like them let us pray: ‘Come, Holy Spirit!’
Click here to look up the scripture readings.

Music on Sunday
This Sunday the choir will sing the Mass in G by Franz Schubert and Hodie completi sunt by Andrea Gabrieli.

Veni, Sancte Spiritus
Also known as the ‘Golden Sequence’, the Veni, Sancte Spiritus is traditionally sung on Pentecost Sunday just before the Gospel reading. Our setting on Sunday invokes the 18th century French alternatim tradition in which the organ replaces the choir in alternate verses and expresses the words through music. Come and see!

Thank you!
Thank you to everyone who helped make last Sunday’s Open Day such a success. Your contributions are much appreciated.
