Parish News for the 3rd Week in Ordinary Time

January 22, 2026 by Oliver Baldwin in Weekly News

This Sunday is the 3rd in Ordinary Time. In the Gospel reading, we hear the call of the first disciples who left everything to follow the Jesus. Let us imitate their faith as we seek to follow Jesus in our own lives.

Music on Sunday
This Sunday the choir will sing the Communion Service in C and F by Charles Villiers Stanford and Dextera Domini by Robert Schumann.

Week of Prayer for Christian Unity
This week we pray for the unity of Christians throughout the world with Ephesians 4.1-13 as our central text. Each of us is called to reflect on these verses which include the words, ‘There is one body and one Spirit, just as you were called to the one hope of your calling.’ (Eph 4.4) There will be a Mass for Unity this Saturday at 10am with prayers for reunion with the See of Peter.

Monthly Mass of Our Lady
Join us on Saturday 31st January at 10am for our new monthly Mass in honour of the Blessed Virgin Mary, followed by coffee and homemade cake. All welcome!

Pilgrimage to Walsingham
Please join us for a joint weekend pilgrimage to Walsingham with S Benet’s Kentish Town and S Mary Brookfield from Friday 19th to Sunday 21st June. The cost for adults is £200 and children £123, including full board and return coach travel. Please ask Fr Oliver for a booking form. Details of the five-day pilgrimage in August will be released soon.

Pilgrimage to Rome
We are planning a fully guided tour of Rome from Monday 5th to Friday 9th October with four nights in a city centre hotel, including breakfast and supper, at a cost of £1265 per person (sharing) or £1385 per person (single room), which includes BA flights from Heathrow. At this stage we are gauging interest. Brochures are available at the back of church.

Baptism and Confirmation
If you are interested in baptism or confirmation, please speak to Fr James or Fr Oliver to find out more. Bishop Jonathan will be joining us for the Paschal Triduum and will be celebrating the sacraments of Christian initiation at the Easter Vigil on Saturday 4th April at 8pm.
