Parish News for the 6th Week in Ordinary Time
This Sunday is the 6th in Ordinary Time. In the Gospel reading, Jesus invites his disciples to pursue righteousness greater than that of the Pharisees. Let us prepare for Lent by taking seriously the pursuit of virtue.

This Sunday the choir will sing the Missa brevis by Simon Preston and O Salutaris hostia by Edward Elgar.
Fr James Away
Fr James is taking a short break. Fr William Davage will be with us for Solemn Mass this Sunday. Fr James will be back in the parish for the 6pm Shrove Tuesday Mass and Pancake Party on 17th February.
Shrove Tuesday Pancakes
After the 6pm Shrove Tuesday Mass we will have drinks and a Pancake Party. All welcome!
Ash Wednesday
Next Wednesday 18th February is Ash Wednesday, which marks the beginning of Lent. There will be a said Mass at 10am and a Choral Mass at 7pm, both with Imposition of Ashes. The setting for the Choral Mass will be Mass for four voicesby William Byrd.
Finding God in Lent
On Sunday 22nd February the first 30-minute study group will meet at 11.30am in the Good Shepherd Chapel. In the first session we will look at praying with the Psalms. All welcome!
Lent Fundraising Concert
On Monday 23rd February at 7pm we will enjoy an evening of chamber music with David Waterman, founding member of the Endellion Quartet, in aid of the Cotton Tree Trust. Purchase your tickets here.
Baptism and Confirmation
Bishop Jonathan will be with us for the Easter Vigil on 4th April at 8pm. If you are interested in being baptised or confirmed at this Mass, please speak to Fr James or Fr Oliver.
Pilgrimage to Walsingham
If you are interested in joining the pilgrimage to Walsingham from Friday 19th to Sunday 21st June, please speak to Fr Oliver.
Pilgrimage to Rome
We are planning a fully guided tour of Rome from Monday 5th to Friday 9th October with four nights in a city centre hotel, including breakfast and supper, at a cost of £1265 per person (sharing) or £1385 per person (single room). The cost includes BA flights from Heathrow. Brochures are available from Fr Oliver or Fr James. Please note that bookings will need to be made by the end of March.
