Parish News for the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary

This Sunday we celebrate the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary into Heaven. In the Gospel reading we hear Mary’s song of praise to God, her ‘Magnificat’. How can we lead lives that magnify the Lord?

Music on Sunday
This Sunday the choir will sing the Mass in G by Franz Schubert and Sancta et immaculata by Cristóbal de Morales.

Choral Evensong for the Assumption
On Sunday afternoon at 5pm we will mark the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary with Choral Evensong. Please come along for worship and superb music by William Smith, Charles Villiers Stanford, and Anton Bruckner, followed by refreshments.

Thursday Healing Mass
The monthly Healing Mass, postponed last week, will be celebrated this Thursday 21st August at noon. After Mass, we gather for a light lunch and a glass of wine for a suggested donation of £2.50. All welcome!

Monthly Requiem Mass
Every last Tuesday of the month at 6pm, Mass will be offered as a Requiem for those in our Chantry Book. The next Requiem Mass will be celebrated on Tuesday 26th August at 6pm. If you would like to have a departed loved one remembered at the altar, please speak to Fr James or Fr Oliver.
 
S.Mary Brookfield Patronal Festival 
Sunday 7th September at 5pm Solemn Vespers followed by drinks and Monday 8th September at 7pm – Solemn Mass followed by supper Please support Fr Damien and the people of S.Mary’s.

Breakfast Church
From Sunday 7th September, there will be a 30-minute service for young families at 9am, with coffee and pastries for the grown-ups.
